Transportation Improvement Program


 

 

 

UPDATE:

An amendment to MUMPO's TIP is necessary to move the following projects into FY 2011 of the TIP as part of the 2035 Long Range Transportation Plan Approval:

• R-2248E, construction of I-485 from NC 115 to I-85
• R-2123CE, construction of the I-485/I-85 interchange
Both projects are currently shown in the TIP to begin construction in 2015.

MUMPO approved the 2009-2015 Transportation Improvement Program (TIP) on May 21, 2008.  The MPO also made a finding that the TIP conforms to the purpose of the North Carolina State Implementation Plan (SIP) in accordance with the Clean Air Act as Amended (CAAA) and the SAFETEA-LU. 

Listed below is MUMPO’s TIP, along with a list of amendments to the TIP since it was first adopted in May 2008.

 

As a part of the adoption of the TIP, MUMPO approved the funding of the following projects in FY 2014 and FY 2015 using its Surface Transportation Program-Direct Attributable (STP-DA) funds.

Town of Cornelius

Construct Northcross Drive Extension, from the end of Northcross Drive to Westmoreland Road
Estimated cost: $4.5 million

STP-DA funds requested: $3.6 million

Town of Indian Trail
Construct intersection improvements at Faith Church Road – Unionville Indian Trail Road intersection
Estimated cost: $2 million

STP-DA funds requested: $1.6 million
 

Town of Matthews
Construct grade-separated crossing of McKee Road over the CSX rail line
Estimated cost: $2 million

STP-DA funds requested: $1.6 million

 Mecklenburg County
Construct a portion of the Little Sugar Creek Greenway, from Tyvola Road to I-485
Estimated cost: $5 million

STP-DA funds requested: $800,000

Town of Stallings
Widen Potter Road, from Pleasant Plains Road to Old Monroe Road. This project includes intersection improvements at Potter Road and Pleasant Plains Road.
Estimated cost: $2 million

STP-DA funds requested: $1.6 million

Construct Little Rock Road relocation
Estimated cost: $6 million

Town of Davidson
Construct multi-use parking deck-joint project with CATS
Estimated cost: $7.5 million

STP-DA funds requested: $2 million
 

Town of Huntersville
Construct intersection improvements at the intersection of US 21 and Gilead Road, including improved bicycle and pedestrian accommodations
Estimated cost: $3.2 million
STP-DA funds requested: $2.5 million

Towns of Matthews & Mint Hill
Construct intersection improvements at the intersection of NC 51 and Idlewild Road
Estimated cost: $500,000
STP-DA funds requested: $400,000
 

Town of Mint Hill
Widen Wilgrove-Mint Hill Road, from NC 51 to Nelson Road

Estimated cost: $650,000

STP-DA funds requested: $520,000
 

 

 


 

Candidate Projects List
MUMPO has approved its Candidate Projects List (CPL) for the 2009-2015 North Carolina Transportation Improvement Program (TIP).  The CPL is the document that lists the projects for which MUMPO will request funding in the 2009-2015 TIP.  There are six project categories in the CPL: roadway; safety; intelligent transportation systems; urban loop funding eligible; multi-modal planning & environmental studies; bicycle.  Please click on the links below to view the project list.
