MUMPO is classified as a transportation management area (TMA) and is
obligated to develop a Congestion Management Process (CMP). Work is
now underway on the CMP, which is a systematic process for managing
congestion that provides information on transportation system
performance. It recommends a range of strategies to minimize
congestion and enhance the mobility of people and goods. These
multimodal strategies include, but are not limited to, operational
improvements, travel demand management, policy approaches, and
additions to capacity.
Work on the CMP is being guided by a subcommittee of MUMPO’s
Technical Coordinating Committee and includes representatives from
the following agencies:
-
Charlotte Department of Transportation
-
Charlotte Area Transit System
-
Federal Highway Administration
-
Town of Indian Trail Engineering Department
-
Town of Huntersville Transportation Department
-
North Carolina Department of Transportation
-
Union County Public Works Department
